Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large, muscular dog breed that originated in southern Africa. They were originally bred to hunt lions and other large game, but today they are often used as family pets. The breed is known for its distinctive "ridge" of hair that runs along its back in the opposite direction of the rest of its coat. They have a short, smooth coat that is typically red wheaten in color. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are generally friendly and good with children, but they can be protective of their family and territory. They are also known for being independent and stubborn, which can make training a challenge. They have a moderate energy level, which can be met with regular exercise and playtime.

Training a Rhodesian Ridgeback requires patience and consistency. They can be independent and stubborn, so it's important to establish yourself as the leader from an early age. Positive reinforcement and consistency in training is key. They require a moderate amount of exercise and playtime to help keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Early socialization is important to help them be comfortable around new people and other animals. Basic obedience training is a must, as well as proper leash training. They are intelligent dogs and can excel in various dog sports such as obedience, agility and lure coursing.

Bully sticks are a popular chew treat for dogs made from dried bull or steer pizzle. They are high in protein, low in fat and provide a satisfying chew for dogs. They are also a healthier alternative to rawhide chews.

Heavy chewers are dogs who have a strong urge to chew and can destroy many toys and chews quickly. They may require durable, heavy-duty chew toys or natural options such as bully sticks. Proper training and providing them with enough chews and toys can help curb destructive chewing behavior.

Jumbo Bully Sticks are the longest lasting version. Try the standard bully stick first and work your way up to jumbo. They are softer than antlers and bones. Hard chews like antlers can prematurely wear down your dogs teeth. There are 6" and 12" versions of the bully sticks. My Rhodesian Ridgeback gets the 12" jumbo version, which will last about 15-20 minutes. That's 15-20 minutes of a well behaved Rhodesian Ridgeback.

There will be plenty more where this comes from, with more breeds to have overviews on and plenty of dog toys, treats, and chews to recommend.
